SimplePay tax FAQ
How does Coinfig help with SimplePay?
Coinfig values crypto received as salary or for services in rand at the date of receipt, so your payroll administrator can capture it in SimplePay for correct PAYE.
Is crypto salary taxable in South Africa?
Yes. Crypto paid as remuneration is taxed as income at its rand value on receipt, subject to PAYE. Coinfig provides the valuation. This is not tax advice.
Does SimplePay report crypto to SARS?
SimplePay handles PAYE on remuneration and submits payroll information to SARS. It does not report crypto investment activity — that is declared in your ITR12.
Should staking rewards go through SimplePay?
No. Staking and investment gains are not remuneration; they are declared in your personal return. Use Coinfig for those, not SimplePay.
